Windows 10 / 11 x64 · standalone PCM: an external DAC is not required. When no dedicated native-ASIO output is selected, NeuraMuse can use the active Windows render device through WASAPI. It first attempts source-rate WASAPI Exclusive and, when the device cannot open that format exclusively, can fall back to WASAPI Shared for compatibility.

Windows · dedicated DAC / interface: install the manufacturer-provided native ASIO driver. When NeuraMuse can confidently match a connected dedicated device to that driver and no present explicit output preference overrides it, the native ASIO output is preferred automatically. Built-in/system audio stays on WASAPI; software wrappers such as ASIO4ALL or FlexASIO are not treated as the dedicated native-ASIO reference path. Manual output selections remain authoritative.

Desktop LINK Multiroom — mandatory hardware: every participating Windows or macOS computer must have its own compatible DAC or audio interface connected and working. Two desktop computers = two DACs/interfaces. Three desktop computers = three DACs/interfaces. Built-in/system audio may be usable for supported standalone playback, but it is not the supported desktop LINK configuration.

Windows · DSD and LINK: DIRECT DSD/DoP requires the DAC/interface ASIO path. Every Windows LINK room requires its own working native hardware ASIO DAC/interface and the manufacturer-provided ASIO driver. The standard WASAPI fallback is for standalone playback, not the validated LINK room backend.

macOS · LINK: every Apple Silicon Mac participating as a desktop LINK room requires its own compatible DAC/audio interface through CoreAudio. The iPad endpoint is separate and uses its own local iPad output.

Bit-perfect PCM: DIRECT can remain bit-perfect through native ASIO or WASAPI Exclusive when the exact source rate/format is accepted. WASAPI Shared is an explicit compatibility path and may use the Windows mixer/sample-rate conversion, so it is not presented as bit-perfect.

macOS: Apple Silicon (M-series) only. NeuraMuse uses CoreAudio — no ASIO driver is required. The current DMG is Developer ID signed, Apple-notarized and stapled.

DSD / DoP: DoP does not convert DSD to PCM. DIRECT DSD remains bit-perfect when the local DAC/driver accepts the carrier required by the source rate. In LINK, a rejecting joined endpoint can continue through clearly reported PCM Compatibility without changing compatible DSD rooms.

Activation / trial: desktop Early Access starts with a 14-day trial. No payment or card is required, and there is no automatic charge when the trial ends. Internet access is required for first activation and periodic licence validation after installation. If you need more evaluation time, use the Trial Extension form. Enter your email, operating system and exact computer name; for LINK, list every desktop computer that needs an extension. Requests are normally reviewed and applied within a few minutes of receipt.
